Life gets busy. Between careers, family, and everyday responsibilities, it’s easy for couples to slip into “roommate mode” instead of feeling like true partners. That’s why planning a getaway — just the two of you — can be the reset button your relationship needs.
Here are three U.S. destinations that help couples slow down, recharge, and remember why they fell in love in the first place.
First on the list is Napa Valley, California.
While I was researching the top destinations to allow couples to reconnect, Napas pictures and things to do stood out. Some of the places to stay in Napa are cute little cottages that you see in movies. They bring such a homey, sitting by the fireplace with a good book, feel to them.
I know that people always associate Napa being wine country, but there are so much more to do that gives off a romantic vibe. If you are the adventurous type, try the hot air balloon ride. It allows breathtaking views of Napa. From start to finish this would take between 3 to 4 hours. Next option would be a train ride through Napa on the Napa Valley Wine Train. Take a full steam locomotive through the vineyards and the charming little towns. They offer brunch and twilight rides. Napa gives you tons of options of things to do and is the perfect place to focus on each other, not your to-do lists.
The second city on the list is Charleston, South Carolina.
Charleston feels like stepping back in time, with cobblestone streets, pastel homes, and oak-lined gardens. This is a place that reminds you that chivalry is still happening. The pace is slower here, and that makes it easier to reconnect while exploring hand in hand. Starting your escape with booking a bed and breakfast in Charleston seems like the way to go for romance. Many of the bed and breakfast establishments are housed in historic buildings, offering unique experiences for couples.
The things to do in Charleston exudes charm and romance. A few choices that make the list are horse drawn carriage rides and dinner cruises, I feel like the number one way to take in Charleston is just strolling through some of the city. Most people opt to walk hand in hand down Church Street or Rainbow Rd looking at the architecture and seeing the beautiful flowers and landscape.
Wrapping up Charleston if you’re looking to escape with your significant other for a few days of romance and relaxation, Charleston, SC is the perfect destination.
Third on our list is Sedona, Arizona.
Sedona is also on my "bucket list" to visit. I feel like Sedona is listed to be on the top romantic city list because of the energy vortexes that the city has. Sedona is believed to have transforming powers, which attract artists and healers from around the globe, but most people say its because of the stunning views between the rock formations.
The places to stay in Sedona can range from romantic bed and breakfast chateaus to grand villas. It all depends on what you are looking for and your budget. The options of things to do together can range from strolling through town looking at antique and art stores, to hiking through the red rocks, or relaxing on a desert evening looking up at the skies. Sedona isn’t just a destination — it’s an experience that lets you slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover the beauty of being together.
Traveling as a couple doesn’t have to be about rushing to see everything, these escapes give you the chance to recharge and create memories that last long after you return home.
Here is a link to a company called Viator and you can book any excursions that you might want to do through them.
