Good Morning my friends!
Hurricane Melissa is making an impact across our Caribbean islands. Melissa strengthened to a Category 5 hurricane (maximum sustained winds of 157 mph or greater) early Monday morning prior to its approach along the southern coastline of Jamaica. Its expected to make landfall on Tuesday morning. The National Hurricane Center indicate s that the hurricane could drop up to 40 inches of rain in southern Hispaniola and Jamaica through Wednesday. Along with that storm surges could reach 9-13 feet along the coast of Jamaica. The Weather Channel indicates Melissa will slowly curl northeastward and make landfall over Jamaica Tuesday, then push into eastern Cuba Tuesday night or early Wednesday, then quickly through the southeast Bahamas or Turks and Caicos Wednesday. Melissa could then track close to Bermuda Thursday night or early Friday.
Travel to the some of the Caribbean Islands will be impacted for a while and parts of Jamacia will most likely struggle for some time.
